Why others fail · 4 min read
AI vendors love to compress “your sales process” into a single prompt. Real sales has five distinct shapes.
Sit in on a week of calls at any Indian SMB. You’ll find at least five distinct conversation types: a cold inbound enquiry, a warm follow-up, a hot site-visit booking, a callback to a no-show, and a renewal. Each requires a different opener, different objection grammar, different end-call discipline.
A single AI prompt cannot serve all five. The instructions contradict each other. The model picks one approach at random per call. You get a Hard Closer voice on a brochure-download enquiry — and the lead hangs up.
DigitalCallers’s four templates aren’t marketing positioning. They’re the minimum number of distinct conversation shapes we found necessary in 18 months of running calls for Indian SMBs. Each one has its own opener, objection library, banned-phrase list, and end-call rules.
If your AI calling vendor offers “a sales agent” instead of multiple templates, ask them what they do when the same product needs both a cold enquiry response and a warm follow-up. The answer will tell you whether they’ve done the work.
