The “generic sales agent” prompt is the worst pattern in AI calling.

One prompt cannot cover a hot RE enquiry, a warm patient follow-up, and a cold loan pre-screen.

Most AI calling tools ship with a single default sales-agent prompt. Customers are expected to customise by appending their script. After three or four edits, the prompt becomes contradictory: it tells the agent to “close hard” and “ask discovery questions” and “don’t use urgency tactics” all in the same instruction.
