“Sochenge” isn’t no. Most AI calling tools don’t know that.

The Indian soft-no is a cultural minefield. AI tools trained on Western data walk straight into it.

An Indian buyer who says “sochenge sir, family se baat karke bataenge” is not saying no. They’re saying I’m interested but I need time. The right response is to acknowledge and stay warm. The wrong response is to either pressure (“sir aaj hi book kar lo, kal rate badh sakta hai”) or end the call (“theek hai sir, dhanyawad”).

Most AI calling tools end the call. Their training data — overwhelmingly Western — taught them that “maybe later” means “no”. They mark the lead as not-interested and move on. The buyer never hears from them again, often despite genuinely planning to come back.

GREEN-light and RED-light discipline

We codified this explicitly in every DigitalCallers strategy template. GREEN-lights (sochenge, dekhte hain, family se baat karke, achha, theek hai) mean stay on the call. RED-lights (mujhe interest nahi hai, wrong number, please don’t call again) mean end politely. The lists are reinforced at three different layers in the system prompt.
